What you do counts...

Did you know that a 6 degree increase on the earth's temperature could mean global wipe out? Wipe out as in melting of the ice in the Antartica which could seriously lead to the rise of Ocean levels....thus resulting to floods and other catastrophe. It would dry up the whole of Amazon. Forest fires and El Nino would be regular. In short, humanity is in grave danger.
Just last year, I myself have experienced first hand, the wrath of climate change. A sudden out pour of rain drowned the whole of Manila for days, leaving us stranded in our homes with little food and no power. It had destroyed our livelihood, sunk our cars, paralyzing us in the worst way possible. For me, that was already a wake up call.

According to National Geographics, the world is currently at .8 degrees of global warming. Two degree increase could already be detrimental. We approximately have a decade to reduce our green house gas emissions to a certain level in order to stay on the safe side. But what can you do???
Well, there are a lot of things that we can contribute to combat climate change and its disastrous outcome, even just in our own little ways. One of the basics is just by 1.) lowering your energy consumption. Unplug those gadgets that are not in use... Even if your device is off, it still eats up energy. Less consumption means less green house gas emissions from coal power plants. For the last two years, we have actively participated in Earth Hour. By turning off your electricity for one whole hour, you can help in reducing greenhouse effect by several percentage. 2.) Do car pools or just pedal your way to the pubs or something like that or lose those flabs and just walk. Very do-able isn't it?! :) 3.) Get yourself aware of what's going on around you. Involve yourself to environmental conservation. 4.) Eat green. I especially admire vegetarians. It has been a struggle for me all these years to let go of meat. If you have tips on how to ditch meat for good, PLEASE email me! hihih!
Anyhow, happy Earth Day to you all.. Let this day be a reminder that our earth is fragile and that we need to look after it.

My family gave up red meat to help with climate change. It is heaps cheaper too! I don't mind so much cos i crave sweets, not savoury so much :)

Amazing post! I went vegetarian for about a year but it's very difficult when you're not used to having that varied diet. Great way to raise awareness! xxx
